Power plant valuation

KYOS has developed advanced power plant valuation software called KyPlant. The software includes constraints which are applicable to most power stations:

• Operational constraints: min and max capacity, runtimes, off times, ramp rates, efficiency curve
• Costs: fixed, variable operations & maintenance costs
• Start costs: fixed and variable fuel costs for 20 start curves
• Outages and maintenance
• Limitations on gas consumption and number of starts
• External obligations: supply of power and heat

The software reports intrinsic values based on forward curves, while extrinsic values are calculated through price simulations.

Hedging on forward markets

A separate hedging module is included in the KyPlant valuation software. With this module dynamic hedging strategies can be included, and the effects of trading in forward markets are quantified in cash-flow distributions. Because all market products can be defined, the software mimics the decision a plant operator makes in reality.
